Action films are currently dominating the country. But there still seems to be a demand for entertaining rom-coms. Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor’s Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar did respectable business, grossing about 220 Crores.
Now, the next film in the genre, Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani could re-energize the genre again. New posters released of the film have created hype among audiences.

Karan Johar Releases Flamboyant And Bindass Posters Of Rocky, Rani, And Family
The first look of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani has finally been released by Karan Johar on his birthday and it looks like it will be a fun rom-com. Johar introduced Ranveer Singh’s poster on his Instagram account with the caption, “An absolute ‘heartthrob’, who wears his own heart on his sleeve – meet Rocky!”
Ranveer Singh is seen posing bare-chested as his hair flies in a breeze or while he’s seemingly in a mid-air jump. He’s wearing a gold animal-printed shirt coupled with a large chain. In another poster, the actor is seen wearing a spiked black leather jacket with large sunglasses that are hanging down.
Introducing Alia Bhatt’s posters, Karan Johar wrote, “Ladies & gentlemen, the queen is here to steal your hearts – meet Rani!.” She’s wearing sarees in both posters and posing calmly with a slight smile on her face. Apart from the character posters, two more posters highlighting the two families have been released as well.
In one, Ranveer Singh’s family is introduced as The Randhawas, and Alia Bhatt’s family is introduced as The Chatterjees. The cast of the highly anticipated film also includes Shabana Azmi, Jaya Bachchan, and Dharmendra in important roles.
Karan Johar Returns As A Director After 7 Years
Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani will see Karan Johar return to the director’s chair after a period of 7 years. He last helmed the Ranbir Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai starrer Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Talking about the film with PTI, Johar said that it’s in the vein of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. The director stated:
“I did go through phases of evolution as a filmmaker. But right during the pandemic, I felt I just needed to make a movie that made me feel like I was 25 again. And when I was 25, the only movie I could think of or make was Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, because it was like an accumulation of all the movies that I had grown up watching. It’s a homage to Raj Kapoor, Yash Chopra, Sooraj Barjatya.”
Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani will be released on July 28.
