Akshay Kumar Shoots For Dharma Productions Film In Roorkee

Bollywood films haven’t been able to make their mark post pandemic except for a few exceptions. There’s Pathaan that grossed about ₹1000 crores and became the highest grossing Bollywood film and then there are smaller hits like Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, Drishyam 2, and Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar.

Apart from this, every film has been trashed by audiences in theatres. And even Akshay Kumar suffered at box office. None of his 2022 films were hits. Even tentpole films like Samrat Prithviraj and Bachchan Pandey flopped. But the actor isn’t stopping anytime soon and has begun working on his next.

Akshay Kumar Spotted In IIT Roorkee For Shankra

The Twitter account @bhagchand_ak posted a video of the actor’s vehicle entering the premises of IIT Roorkee. They added the caption: “AKSHAY KUMAR REACHED IIT ROORKEE TODAY FOR THE SHOOTING OF SHANKRA!”

Here’s the tweet:

Right now, a lot of information hasn’t been released on Shankra. In fact, some of Kumar’s fans seemed to be hearing about the film for the first time. More information is awaited on the project. It’s possible that Shankra is the title of the Soorarai Pottru remake. But it’s hard to decipher if that’s indeed the case.

What’s Coming Up For Akshay Kumar In 2023?

The first film of Akshay Kumar that was released in 2023 was the Emran Hashmi starrer Selfiee. The film bombed badly in theatres. But that hasn’t stopped the star. The actor has a lot of projects coming out in 2023. These are: OMG 2, Soorarai Pottru Remake, Veer Daudale Saat, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, and Capsule Gill.

It remains to be seen if any of these films will make their mark in the theatres. A lot of general audiences want Kumar to slow down and cut down on the number of films he works on as it is eroding away his mystique as a star as well as affecting the quality of his films.

His portrayal of the titular king in Samrat Prithviraj drew the most criticism from all quarters as many felt he could have given more effort to portray the legendary hero. But it looks like the actor has no intention of stopping or changing anytime soon.

General audiences feel the only film of Kumar in 2023 that can become a hit is Bade Miyan Chote Miyan with Tiger Shroff. But whether that happens or not remains to be seen.
